A postdoctoral position is available for a highly motivated individual who is a team player, to study the area of mucosal immunity to viral pathogens in genital and intestinal mucosa. The position is located at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. McMaster University is renowned for its strength in mucosal immunology. The project is newly funded from a Canadian Institutes of Health Research initiative for a "Team Grant on Mucosal Immunity". The project will specifically involve examining epithelial - dendritic cell interactions in vivo in mouse models and in vitro in cell culture models. The "Mucosal Team" consists of a number of laboratories that have expertise in various aspects of genital, respiratory and intestinal mucosal immunity. The chosen individual will have a chance to interact with a number of these labs and benefit from their expertise. The group is very dynamic and in an expansion phase, with latest facilities and open laboratory space in the newly built DeGroote Centre for Learning and Discovery. Other projects in the lab focus on different aspects of mucosal immunity in the genital tract to HSV-2 and HIV-1, effect of sex hormones on immune responses in the reproductive tract and epithelial cell interactions with sexually transmitted viruses. The individual will be a part of and will closely interact with other groups in the Center for Gene Therapeutics that work on viral vectors, cancer immunology, infectious disease immunology. |
