ASRI Announces Postponement of the ASRI 2020 Annual Meeting Due to Continuing Spread of COVID-19 and Growing Concerns over the Health and Well-Being of Participants: Cancellation Deemed to be the Most Responsible Action at This Time
After careful consideration, the leadership of the American Society for Reproductive Immunology has made the difficult decision to postpone the upcoming ASRI 2020 meeting scheduled for May 17-21, 2020 in Santa Fe, NM.
We deeply regret any inconvenience caused by the postponement of the ASRI meeting and we share your disappointment, but we believe this is the most responsible course of action to protect the health and well-being of our attendees and all those engaged in the conference. The global situation relating to COVID-19 and its impact has changed significantly over the past few days, and likely will continue to do so in the weeks ahead. This is making it very difficult to predict, assess and mitigate any potential risks to our attendees, speakers, exhibitors and invited guests.
The American Society for Reproductive Immunology has been continuously monitoring the latest information from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, World Health Organization and US Department of State on the spread of the novel coronavirus disease COVID-19. Along with rising concerns that travel to large group gatherings is not judicious from a public and personal health perspective, we are seeing an increasing number of international travel bans being implemented by hospitals and universities in attempts to contain and minimize the effects of the COVID-19 outbreak. This now significantly impacts the quality of the ASRI 2020 program and the ability of key international speakers and delegates to meaningfully participate.
The ASRI Executive Council and Program Committee has rescheduled the meeting for MAY 16-19, 2021. Please mark your calendars accordingly. We will provide more details in the coming week.
ASRI asks for your understanding and patience as we work through the complex and immense logistics of this extraordinary and difficult circumstance. Please continue to watch our meeting website for updates as they become available.
It seems that 2020 is a year that may require a different kind of vision. While we are disappointed that we will be unable to host you in Santa Fe as originally planned, we are already looking ahead with a clear vision for continuing the 40th anniversary celebration of the American Society for Reproductive Immunology in Santa Fe in May 2021. We hope to see you there!
