Members of the Bylaws Committee are appointed by Council. All members should have previously held a leadership position within ASRI, ensuring that the committee brings informed institutional perspective to its work.

This committee serves as ASRI's primary body for maintaining the integrity, clarity, and currency of the Society's governing documents.

The role of the committee is to:

  • Review proposed amendments to the ASRI Bylaws and recommend changes to Council that are consistent with the Society's overall mission and purpose;
  • Respond to requests from the Council and/or President to review and make recommendations regarding specific Bylaws revisions;
  • Examine the implications of proposed changes and provide thorough analysis and recommendations to Council prior to action;
  • Ensure adherence to the established Bylaws amendment process and timeline; and
  • Review member-proposed Bylaws amendments and make recommendations to Council in advance of membership consideration.

Committee Mission

The Bylaws Committee safeguards the governance framework of ASRI by ensuring that the Society's constitution and bylaws remain accurate, relevant, and consistently applied. The committee considers proposed amendments, reviews and drafts rules for the conduct of Council and membership meetings, and provides guidance to leadership on matters of governance and procedure.
