The laboratory of  Dr Vikki Abrahams, PhD in the Department Obstetrics, Gynecology & Reproductive Sciences at Yale University School of Medicine is looking to recruit a motivated Postdoctoral scientist.

The Abrahams Lab focuses on understanding the role of innate immune Toll-like receptor, Nod-like receptor, and inflammasome family members in placental, fetal membrane, and maternal-fetal immune responses to infectious and non-infectious stimuli, and their role in regulating pregnancy outcome, including those complicated by infections and by autoimmune diseases. The lab uses basic and translational approaches; primarily in human models systems and samples, but also using mouse models. The current position will involve studying the mechanisms by which non-infectious antiphospholipid antibodies, that are associated with lupus, induce placental trophoblast inflammation and impact their communication with the maternal vasculature. This position is for 2 years initially with the possibility of extension and is anticipated to start the fall of 2024.

Applicants should have a PhD in a relevant field such as Immunology; Reproductive Sciences; or Cellular and/or Molecular Biology. Prior Reproductive Immunology and/or Reproductive Biology experience is preferred but not essential. Applicants should have skills that include, but are not limited to cell culture, Western blot analysis, ELISA, and RT-qPCR.

Candidates should be enthusiastic, highly organized, self-motivated, hard-working and reliable, with excellent interpersonal and written and oral communication skills. Applicants must have good attention to detail and problem-solving skills, be able to multi-task, and be able to perform both independently as well as in a team environment. Successful applicants will have a strong track record of research productivity, presentations, and publications.

Applicants should email: 1) a Curriculum Vitae; 2) contact information for three references; and 3) a description of their research background and interests and career goals to Dr Vikki M Abrahams, PhD (vikki.abrahams@yale.edu).
