Wayne State University, a premier public urban research institution located in the heart of Detroit, Michigan, invites applications for a tenured Professor position in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. This recruitment is part of a major expansion of the Reproductive and Tumor Immunology Unit within the C.S. Mott Center for Human Growth and Development (http://mott.med.wayne.edu/), the basic research arm of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, which ranks among the top five OB/GYN departments in the nation for research. The successful candidate will provide strategic and operational leadership, develop and direct an innovative research program, and promote interdisciplinary collaborations both within and beyond the University. Faculty are expected to maintain a vigorous, externally funded research program and actively contribute to the education and mentorship of residents, clinical fellows, and graduate and undergraduate students.
Candidates with a PhD and/or MD and a demonstrated record of research excellence in cancer biology—particularly in tumor immunology, drug discovery, drug delivery systems, mouse cancer models, and in vitro pre-clinical testing—are encouraged to apply. Applicants utilizing tumor model systems or human specimens to address translational oncology problems are strongly preferred. The ideal candidate will have expertise bridging basic and translational science, with a proven ability to advance discoveries into clinical applications, including diagnostic or therapeutic development. A strong publication record, evidence of sustained external funding, and a history of successful mentorship are essential.
